Man United legend advises club to sign this striker

Former Manchester United captain Roy Keane has advised the club to sign Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who he believes can be be the new Eric Cantona.

United have been linked with the 34 year old Swede, who is a free agent after leaving PSG last season. The player is yet to reveal his next club, as he stands to lose up to £1m from the French Champions, if he signs or announces a new deal before the end of June.

That is what is believed to be keeping United waiting. But Keane sees a lot of similarities between Ibra and Cantona.

"Of course he’s a good fit for United, he’s a good player,” Keane said.

“Is he like Eric Cantona? They're big characters, clearly, whatever you say about Cantona he was a popular lad, and I get the impression Zlatan is the same.

"Whatever you hear about his playing career, you hear from his team mates and he seems to be a bit of a character, and you can see that in the way he plays.

“It's good to see that, because there's a lack of characters out there, and he certainly is that. On top of all that, he's a very, very good player."

"To compare him to Eric, he's a little different, but he’s a very good player.

"People talk about Ibrahimovic having a bit of temper like that’s a bad thing ... it depends how you use it.

"I’m still learning, but then again I don’t have one."

It is believed that both Zlatan and Mourinho are keen on a reunion after working togther at Inter Millan, and United provides one of the best platform for that.

Latest reports that Ibrahimovic wants to feature in the Olympics may however complicate issues for both sides, as if he does, he would not be available for preseason and the Premier League opener, on August 13.
