Rio Ferdinand sitting on the fence in top four race between these two clubs

The former United defender has said he is sitting on the fence with regards to who he want to make the top four between Manchester United and West Ham.

Both teams are his former clubs with Rio moving to Old Trafford from the Hammers.

The former England star progressed through the West Ham academy before making his debut for the Hammers at 17 against Sheffield Wednesday. He went on to play 158 matches for the London team before making the Old Trafford switch.

Ferdinand returned to the Boleyn Ground  for Mark Noble's testimonial match.

Ferdinand speaking after the game said:

“It was great to be back on the
pitch again. This stadium holds great memories for me and this club will always be in my heart.

“The Boleyn Ground is fantastic and I am an academy product and it will always be in my system. Via the West Ham official website.

Speaking on the battle for the top four, he said:

“It used to be quite simple
before because Manchester United were always going for trophies and I would always want them to win when I got there.

“But now the two clubs are fighting for the same position so I will probably have to sit on the fence a little bit!”

Both teams are currently on the same points with the Hammers ahead of United in terms of goal difference.

Both teams still have scores to settle in the FA Cup replay in London, after the first leg ended in a draw at Old Trafford.
