José Mourinho sets May deadline for United offer - Report

Manchester United have from now till may to offer José Mourinho a contract according to the Guardian.

The former Chelsea manager has been touted to become the next United manager, but United are yet to make an official move to that effect.

As it stands, Van Gaal future is not certain at the club, after he was left out of the team's preseason schedule program, but he still seem to have the backing of some powerful individuals in the United board.

Sir Alex Ferguson recently begged for more patience with the Dutchman while also providing excuses for the team's woeful season so far.

This has not gone down well with a large section of United fans.

Ed. Woodward has also been reluctant in taking a decision regarding Van Gaal's successor or future despite Mourinho's availability since last year.

All these are pointers that Mourinho may not be totally in the frame of things at United. And the Portuguese want to know where he  stands by May.

The Portuguese has also received offers from clubs like Valencia and possibly Real Madrid.

José has stated that he would be back next season, and while the United job is his priority, he is ready to move on if not considered by May.
