Valdes: I don't have any problem with Van Gaal: Thankful to Dutchman for helping him when he was injured

Contrary to the general believe that the Spanish goalkeeper is angry at the Dutchman, he has come to to say no.

He even thanked Van Gaal for discovering him and giving him another chance after his injury at Barcelona.

The shot stopper didn't make any first team appearance for United this season, after Van Gaal dropped him from United's pre season tour because he (Valdes) refused to play for the U-21 side.

In an interview via the Mirror, he said:

"I don't have any problem with Louis van Gaal.

"He discovered me when I was 20 years old. He was the only coach who, in that moment, said: 'I want you in the first team.'

"And after my knee ligament injury, he was the first to approach me about playing for Manchester United.

"I am thankful to him and will never forget that. He gave me my first game after my injury." He added.

He joined Standard Liege during the January transfer window, and has kept one clean sheet for his new team in two games.
