Three United players that could benefit from Wayne Rooney's absence

Just when fans thought he was getting into his top gear this season, the United captain has suffered an injury that could cost United.
He has been directly involved in 10 of United's last 14 goals, and is an inspiration on the field.
Van Gaal confirmed that the player is out with a knee injury, and unconfirmed reports is that Rooney will be out for within 6 -8 weeks.
Redlyunited looks at three players that could benefit from the skipper's absence

1. Anthony Martial

The young forward started his blistering United career as a the point man. His return rate in his first few games was great, until Van Gaal decided to play him from the wings.

This undoubtedly affected his goal scoring form.
With Rooney out, expect to see the Frenchman lead the lines for United again. If he can rediscover his goal scoring form, and bang in the goals consistently, United may not feel the absence of Rooney much.
A lot currently rest on his goal scoring abilities now.

He seem to have adapted to life on the wings, providing great assists, beating his markers easily and getting the goals once an while.

But with Van Gaal under pressure, Wayne Rooney injured, Martial must get up.

2. Memphis Depay

This will probably be the best time for the stylish Dutchman to make a mark for United this season.

Having joined United with high expectations, he has struggled for form and consistency on the pitch.

Rather than scoring, he is currently most remembered for helping the opposition in getting goals.

With Martial likely to be pushed forward, the winger will get more time on the left wing, his favorite position. It may be now or never for Depay.

3. Will Keane

Depending on how Martial and Memphis combine to get the goals, Will Keane will be the one to replace any of two that disappoints.

Manager Van Gaal has already stated his high hopes and expectations for the young striker.

He has been highly impressive for the U-21 side and Van Gaal will be hoping to get the best from the youngster.
