Arsenal defender Mathieu Debuchy has opened up that he wanted to move to United during the January transfer window, but Arsenal manager Wenger prevented him.
After falling behind the pecking order at the club, he sought for a loan move away from the Emirates.
United, lacking a lot of wingbacks made a last minute move for the Frenchman. But a move to Old Trafford didn't materialise. The player had since moved on to join Bordeaux on the last day of the transfer window.
Speaking to French Canal Plus via ESPN, he said:
"Yes, at the end of the transfer window they (United) came in.
"They contacted my agents. I was disappointed, obviously. If I had the chance to go to Manchester United it would have been magnificent.
"Unfortunately it wasn't the case. I discussed it with the coach too, who said that obviously he couldn't help out a rival."
