Midtjylland 2 - 1 Manchester United: Player Ratings

Manchester United produced yet another pitiable performance against their Danish opposition. United lacked coordination and direction in the final not only from the field, maybe also from the bench.

Redlyunited rates the performance of Van Gaal's men on a scale of 1-10

Sergio Romero: 7.5

Called upon few minutes to the start of the game, after Dr Gea's injury during the warm up and put in a man of the match performance. Made a number of brilliant saves in the game, especially two quick saves in the second half.

Donald Love: 6.

A little above average performance from the young defender. Was sharp, calm and composed. Helped out on the attack frequently.

Chris Smalling: 5.5

Not at his commanding best in the night, but did a good job. Maybe he helped out more in attack than defence.

Paddy McNair: 6

Good to see him back in the squad after a long period of absence. Helped a lot in bringing out the ball from the defence. Part if the defence that shipped in two goals against the minnows.

Daley Blind: 5.5

Played at left back, his versatility is of great advantage to United on the night. Constantly trying to hep out in attack, but all yielded nothing.

Ander Herrera: 4

One of his worse performance in a United jersey this season
Plays dip down the midfield, and couldn't stop the opposition. Gave away the ball that led to the first goal.

Michael Carrick: 4.5

Was just a passerby in that game. Failed to exert his authority and experience in the midfield. Allowed the Midtjylland players to get pass the Unites midfield too easily

Jesse Lingard: 5.5

Inexperience showing from the young winger. Presented with some half chances he could have converted.

Juan Mata: 3

The Spaniard starting in his favorite number 10 position created next to nothing throughout his stay on the pitch. With Wayne Rooney out,  players like Mata should have stood up to the occasion, but the player sank without trace in the game.

Memphis Depay 4.5

He scored United's only goal and that was all. The winger didn't make the best use of the golden opportunity of starting, made a number of questionable decisions, not impressive outing by his standard.

Anthony Martial: 5.5

Had noting much to attack, as those behind him offered nothing going forward. Showed some intelligence in his trying to link up play with some United attackers.

Subs

Morgan Schneiderlin: 5

Came in, and was only slightly better than Herrera.

Andreas Peireira: No rating
