Manchester United making audacious try to sign Barcelona forward

Manchester United are making a daring move to sign Barcelona's Lionel Messi according to Daily Mail.

The Old Trafford giants have reportedly made two requests in the last three weeks on the possibility of landing the Argentine ace.

Messi and his father are currently facing court trials in Spain regarding tax evasion, and the player is  increasingly frustrated at the way Spanish media have handled the issue.

United stand a better chance of signing the 28 year next summer, if the team can qualify for the Champions League.

It will take a world record bid to let Barcelona part with their most priced asset. That is if they will.

Messi's current contract expires in 2018, which may give United some chance of making what would be end up being a world record move for the Argentine.

Would you want to see Messi play for United?
