Manchester United to complete first major signing next week - Report

Manchester United are set to complete and confirm the signing of Zlatan Ibrahimovic next week, before the start of the European Championship.

United have long been linked with the 34 year old, and the arrival of José Mourinho makes the deal more likely.

Both men are fond of each other and will welcome the possibility of working together again, after their short time together at Inter Milan.

According to Sky Sports, United vice chairman Ed. Woodward and Ibrahimovic's representatives are putting final touch to a one year deal.

José wants to make the Swede his first signing, and that will make a bold statement of his intent to get United back to the top, and to assure fans that United can still attract top quality players.

Mourinho will reportedly make Zlatan his only new striker heading into the season, as he prepares to give Rashford, more playing time and opportunity to continue his development.

Ibrahimovic is a free agent after his contract with PSG expired last season. He has received offers from a host of clubs around the world, including offers from the MLS in America and Chinese Super League.

The 34 year old however prefers to play in the Premier League, and as it stands, United are leading the race to sign the enigmatic forward.
