Manchester United star opens up: United did a great job getting Mourinho

Bastian Schweinsteiger has hailed United's decision to replace Van Gaal with Mourinho as a 'great one'.

The former Chelsea boss was confirmed as United's new manager days after Van Gaal led United to their first trophy in three years.

The Dutchman struggled to impress United fans with his style of football, and results haven't justified his decisions either.

Schweinsteiger described the Portuguese as the best in the European football.

"I think we did a great job getting Jose Mourinho to Manchester, one of the best coaches, if not the best, in European football," the 31 year old said.

"But we will get to the topic of Manchester United later.

"We are all happy that we got a coach like that, but right now the players are thinking more about the Euros not about United." He added.

It would be interesting to see how the German would fit into Mourinho's plans at United.

Barring injuries, Schweinsteiger is still a top midfielder, and he'll be hoping for an injury free European Championship and start to a new era under Mourinho
