Club president says this player could have ended up at Man United

Bayern Munich president, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has said their new signing Renato Sanches could have ended up a United player if they had not be fast enough.

United were close to signing the 18 year old, after scouting him for months.

In a move that came as a shock to a lot of United fans, the player made a switch to the German champions that were rarely linked with him.

"If the Sanches transfer not taken place so, quickly, he would have ended up in England," the Bayern chairman said.

"The boy also had an offer from, Manchester United, and if the transfer not, taken place so quickly, he would have ended up in England.

"The transfer fees will continue to rise. But above all the salaries, which is the much bigger problem for the Bundesliga. The players now know exactly what is earned in Spain and in Italy, and, unfortunately, especially in England."

United losing out on young players like Sanches should be a wake up call to the United hierarchy. United have missed out on a number of quality signings in the past few years, and this should be brought to check.
