Pictures: Wayne Rooney wins England player of the year award

The Manchester United and England captain has been voted as the England player of the year (2015) by fans.

The 30 year old became England's all time highest goal scorer surpassing Sir Bobby Charlton's record of 49 goals for the Three Lions, last year.

The United skipper scored five goals in eight matches in the year 2015, and  pulled 37% of the total votes casted by fans. 

Rooney also won the award last year, for (2014). He was presented with the award this week, becoming the second player to win the award consecutively.

He's won the award four times in his thirteen year old career with the national team.

Rooney will be hoping he can lead this young talented England side to a highly successful European Championship, in his first major tournament as captain.
