Revealed: Why United may not appoint José Mourinho as manager

The former Chelsea manager weeks ago was the clear favorite to become United's manager next season.

But over the last one week, Van Gaal seem to have pleased the fans so much that, if he can maintain team's current form and sequence of results, he may still be at the helm of affairs at United next season.

Four wins in their last four, lots of impressive youngsters coming through, injured players returning, and the confidence is crawling back to Old Trafford.

However according to the Mirror, United fear that appointing Mourinho may hinder the team's philosophy of bringing young homegrown players through from the academy.

Over the last two seasons of Van Gaal's reign at United,  more than a dozen of players from the academy have made their senior debut for the team.

Key among these are Jesse Lingard, Cameron Borthwick-Jackson and the most recent Marcus Rashford.

According to the report, Mourinho himself is admitting that United may stick with Ryan Giggs who fully understands the United philosophy and is a beneficiary himself.

Mourinho, haven't not spend more than three years in all his previous club doesn't have the pedigree to convince the United board of his belief in nurturing young players.

And the fear is that the young players currently developing now within the ranks at United may not get continuous first team chances.
