Manchester United will be hoping to have at least three of its injured players back by Christmas.
The Manchester united squad is currently injury ravaged and the team will be missing eight injured players for the Bournemouth clash for which Bastian Schweinsteiger will also miss as a start to his three match suspension.
Van Gaal speaking ahead of the Bournemouth clash said he expects the trio of Smalling, Herrera and Darmian to be back soon.
In his words: "I believe Chris Smalling, Ander Herrera and
Matteo Darmian will be back before Christmas."
This will come as a relieve to a lot of fans and Van Gaal himself. It remains to be seen how Van Gaal will line up his defence in the absence of the ever present Chris Smalling.
The Englishman has been the spine in the United's defence, and fans will be itching to have him back in the team as soon as possible.
