United's goalless draw against Chelsea doesn't look bad as it sounds, United were the better team and were only unlucky, with two goal bound shots saved by the bars. The improved performance gave Van Gaal the opportunity to start the new year as United's manager, and the results and performance of his team in their first few matches will say a lot about his future at United.
