Ferdinand thinks Neville's choice of a foreign country where there is a language barrier was the beginning of his difficulty in Spain.
Gary Neville left his job as a Skysports pundit to join Valencia as their head coach, at the start of December. But his team are yet to win a game in the league, the team have gone from competing to secure a Champions League spot to fourteenth (14) on the table, four points above the relegation zone.
Speaking to Goal.com Ferdinand said:
“The difficult thing for Gary from the beginning was that he was going to a foreign country where he doesn’t speak the language. That’s a big problem from the beginning.
"Then it is about coaching and getting the best out of your players and at the moment he hasn’t been able to get the results but I am sure he will.
“He is a resolute and determined guy and it will be nice to see him get a win.”
His team face Barcelona in the return leg of the Copa del Rey on Wednesday after losing the first leg 7-0, before facing Espanyol on Saturday.
