The former Manchester United star has made the bold claims that the Spanish league is the best in the world.
The winger has played in Portugal, England and Spain.
He left United in 2008, and has gone on to establish himself as club legend in Madrid.
Speaking at an award ceremony where he picked up the Pichichi trophy as the highest goal scorer in Spain last season with 48 goals, he said:
"This is the best league in the world, although I also played in the Premiership.
"It's fantastic, competitive, and with great players. It is a privilege to leave my mark on it.
