Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera and defender Guillermo Varela were the major absentees as the United squad head into their Lowry hotel on Saturday night ahead of the Derby on Sunday.
Herrera was surprisingly missing from the squad that played Liverpool on Thursday, and manager Van Gaal has confirmed that the player had a tight groin .
This is most likely what is still keeping him out of the squad.
Defender Varela had a tough game against Liverpool and was substituted at half time. He misses out most likely because of that performance.
