Bastian Schweinsteiger in line for new German record at Euro's

The Manchester United midfielder is one appearance away from being Germany's most capped player at the European Championships.

If he features for the German tonight as they take on Northern Ireland, he would have played 15 times for the German senior side at the continental competition, surpassing  philipp lahm 14 Euro caps.

Schweinsteiger made a goal scoring debut at the ongoing competition as he came off the bench to score the late winning goal in their 2-0 opening match win over Ukraine.

The German captain made his Euro debut in 2004.

Depending on how far the German proceed in the competition, Schweinsteiger could be in line to equal or surpass Lilian Thuram and former United goalkeeper Edwin Van der Sar's record of 16 caps in the European Championship.
