David de Gea's message to fans after Spain's Euro fallout

David de Gea has sent a 'we will be back' message to Spanish fans after the team got knocked out of the ongoing European Championship. As Spain lost 2-0 to Italy in the second round.

The Manchester United shot stopper was in goal for the La Roja in all their games.

De Gea went into the competition on the back of a strong season with United. He however faced stiff competition with Spanish legend Casillas for who starts in goal for the team.

Despite the rumored sexual assault scandal levelled against De Gea days before the start of the Euro's, coach Del Bosque picked him as the team's number one.

He didn't concede in the first two games of the Euro's. That helped him to a record as the first goalkeeper to keep  clean sheets in his first give competitive games for any national side.

His was however criticised for his performance against Croatia  as Spain lost to their final group game.

He was however at his best, as his wonderful saves helped produced a decent scoreline against the Italians that looked sharp and dangerous on the attack.

He tweeted this after the game:

"Losing is part of the sport as well as getting up after a defeat. We'll come back!
