Confirmed: Former United player (not Giggs) appointed as next Manchester United manager

Manchester United have appointed former defender Rio Ferdinand as the man to succeeded Louis Van Gaal.

While there is no official news from the club yet, the former United defender has confirmed the appointment on his Twitter handle. Where he tweeted:

New Chapter.. Contract signed.. Looking forward to going into management in June.
Big summer ahead! pic.twitter.com/IxBiDNLMIO

Ferdinand spent twelve (12) highly successful years as a United player winning all available club trophy.

His appointment will come as a surprise to United fans who have been expecting José Mourinho to take over from Van Gaal. Ryan Giggs was also in the frame fro the United job, but the United board has decided to appoint the legendary defender as the club's new manager.
