The Swedish star is a big fan of the Portuguese, and has hailed him as a manager who will succeed anywhere he goes, amidst speculation that the Portuguese is on his way to Old Trafford.
The former Inter Milan manager is the favorite to replace Van Gaal, though both camps are keeping mute.
Ibrahimovic has been linked with a move to United, and Mourinho's arrival at Old Trafford could make the move a reality.
"Jose will be a success anywhere he coaches, that is just the man he is." The striker said via Metro.
"I respect him because he says whatever he wants, but when you listen to him what he says is always right.
"Of course he is a coach that has much knowledge, but it is more than that, he also really cares.
"That is why players who play for him are ready to die for him. He cares, so you care.''
There have been reports that the former Chelsea manager has agreed a deal United, with neither party yet to rubbish the claim.
Manchester United have experienced a disappointing season under Van Gaal, and fans are patiently waiting to see the decision of the United board at the end of the season.
