"United are going backwards under Van Gaal": Liverpool legend blast

Former Liverpool defender and Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher believes the Old Trafford club are on the backward foot under the Dutchman.

United lost 3-0 to Tottenham on Sunday, a defeat that may have sealed the team's top four fate.

United as usual this season, had no shot on target in the first half,  while the United manager believe his team were the better team before they started conceding the goals.

Speaking as a Sky analyst for the game, Jamie said

"It looks like they're going backwards.

.
"In terms of Louis van Gaal I don't see him at the club next year if he doesn't get top four.

The Englishman believes Van Gaal is lowering the standard at Old Trafford, and is just happy his team played well without threatening to score.

The fact we're saying United played well, we even mentioned it at half-time.

That's United
playing well now, without ever looking like scoring in that first half.

"(Spurs) could have scored five or six today.

Martial had the one chance
at 0-0, but that's what it's come to now, where Van Gaal is actually pleased that they
just gave Tottenham a game.

"I'd be worried listening to my manager speaking like that after a game."

One but can't agree with Carragher on this. Van Gaal rarely admits that United are not good enough in defeat.
