Rooney and Martial out: Redemption time for Depay

Manchester United will be travelling to Watford in the Premier League without a senior striker. Skipper Rooney is out with illness while Martial and 'emergency forward' Maroune Fellaini will also miss the tie.

This is leaving Van Gaal with the options of either starting Wilson who can't play for 90 minutes upfront,(due to lack of match rhythm according to Van Gaal) or playing either of Depay, Mata or Herrera.

Without doubt, Depay seems the best choice of the three, due to his physique, technique, and speed. But on form, the Dutchman may not get the nod.

Since joining United, Depay has failed to live and play up to expectations. He has scored only one goal in the League, and has sat out the last four matches, with Lingard preferred ahead of him.

With the situation of things in the United attack, it looks very much likely that the Dutchman will play for United against Watford, and a good performance will get him back  into the good books of Van Gaal and on the hearts of the Old Trafford faithfuls.

He no doubt has everything to be a starter and exert more influence in the United team, and a game against an opposition like Watford, with the regulars missing is a perfect time, opportunity and chance to show he is much more needed in the team.

Good Luck Memphis...
