Van Gaal has revealed that he doesn't believes that the expectations on Depay of putting on the jersey number 7 is affecting him.
Depay was a PSV most influential forward last season, helping the Dutch team to the Eredivisie title as he ended the season as the league's top scorer.
Expectations were high when the flying winger moved to Old Trafford in a deal worth £25m.
On his arrival, he was given the jersey number 7, which is a symbolic at United. The number previously worn by United legends such as Ronaldo, Beckham, Cantona, and George Best.
Since his arrival, Depay has struggled with form and consistency. But Van Gaal believes this has nothing to do with the jersey number.
When asked about it, Van Gaal replied "I don't think. I do think the media is making that of it. But I am not superstitious and
he is certainly not superstitious.
