Extract from Van Gaal press conference ahead of CSKA Moscow clash plus winger to miss tie.

Louis Van Gaal has just hosted the media, ahead of CSKA Moscow visit to Old Trafford. It's a match United must win to put themselves in a good chance of qualifying for the next stage of the competition.

Here are some points from what Van Gaal has for us.

Blaming United's schedule for lack of goals?

According to Van Gaal:  “We are playing a lot of matches, so we have to recover. We have trained with a positional game but you cannot see the finishing touch.”

Martial can play in three positions but his best position is the striking position.

In Van Gaal's words : he(Martial) can play in three
positions in his eyes - left, striker and No.10. "I think his best position is the striker's position but he needs to develop himself still. He is very young but I think it is better he develops in the striker's position.”

Depay: the greatest at his age but don't expect consistency.

The winger has been out if the united starting eleven for a while and has been dropped from the Dutch national team for their upcoming friendlies. But Van Gaal has once again assures us of his faith in the 21 year old winger.
Here's what he said about his fellow countryman: "I have said he is the greatest talent of his age but he is only 21 and you cannot expect
consistency. He is at a stage of his career where he must adapt to many things. I'm convinced he's coming back maybe stronger than before but we have to give him time."
Van Gaal has also confirmed that the winger will miss the tie.

Van Gaal has also expressed his confidence in underperforming captain Wayne Rooney.
“I still have confidence in Wayne Rooney" he said.
