The Portuguese tactician is the fans favorite to take over from Van Gaal in the summer.
There have been reports of an agreed deal between both Mourinho and United, though neither party has come out to nullify the rumour.
Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has however report that Mourinho is already working on players he would want to sign when he arrives at United.
He was asked when United would announce Mourinho’s arrival he replied in a tweet:
