Tom Cleverly is set for a move to
Everton after effusing to make his loan move to Aston Villa a permanent one. The
midfielder can move on a free transfer after playing out the final season of
his United contract at the Villa Park.
Cleverly, 25 has come under intense
criticism at Old Trafford for under-performances and inconsistency in form, but
the midfielder believes he has been made a scapegoat for United’s recent dip in
form especially after Fergie era. "I feel
I’ve been made a scapegoat a little bit. A few people in the media certainly
seem to have a perception of me not doing much in the team."
The midfielder joined
United in 2000 from Bradford City, and made is expected to complete the move in
the next few days, on a five year deal.
