SMALLING MAY FEATURE AGAINST NEWCASTLE: UNITED'S TEAM NEWS AHEAD OF BOXING DAY CLASH

Manchester United host Alan Pardew’s team on Boxing Day. The team will want to get back to winning ways after the draw at Villa Park in their last match. The match against villa was one Herrera, and Fellaini missed. Unfortunately both are likely to be missing again, after Van Gaal disclosed that he doesn’t expect any of his injured players to return against Newcastle. The good news is that Van Gaal has described as ‘‘maybe’’ the possibility of Smalling playing against Newcastle. Smalling was in good form before his injury in the match against Southampton about three weeks ago. Van Gaal’s statement of not expecting any injured player to feature against Newcastle means Luke Shaw, Marcos Rojo, will join Fellaini and Herrera in sitting out the game.
Angel Di Maria and Rafael were on the bench against Aston Villa, and either could start, with Di Maria the most likely, after he came on as a late substitute in the game against Villa.

Provisional squad: David De Gea, Anders  Lindergaard, Ben Amos, Antonio Valencia, Rafael  Da Silva, Chris Smalling, Phil Jones,  Michael Keane, Jonny  Evans, Tyler Blackket,  paddy McNair, Ashley Young, Michael Carrick, Jesse Lingard, Darren Fletcher, Juan Mata, Angel Di Maria, Wayne Rooney, Adrian Januzaj,  Robin Van Persie,  Radamel Falcao, James Wilson.
