TEAM NEWS AHEAD OF THE MANCHESTER UNITED LIVERPOOL SHOWDOWN ON SUNDAY. UNITED’S PERSPECTIVE.

Manchester United suffered what was counted as their forty third injury of this season when Chris Smalling was injured and substituted in their last match against Southampton and is expected to be out for two weeks, missing the Liverpool clash. Record signing Di Maria was widely tipped to return for this game but manager Van Gaal has confirmed he won’t be available for the game. Other absentees are Luke Shaw and Daley Blind. Phil Jones and Rafael have both had a week or more of training and either could make a return, Falcao is also fit and should get some playing time, after manger Van Gaal confirmed that the striker could make a return this weekend.  Ashley Young has declared himself fit to face Liverpool while Jonny Evans is also in line for a start.
Van Gaal confirmed on Friday in his press conference that he only have four injuries: ‘‘Now I have only four players injured, the best so far I think.’’
