With six victories in their last six games, the confidence
level is sky high in the Manchester United’s team currently. Despite the team’s
long injury list, the team is getting the desired results irrespective of the
line-up Van Gaal selects.
This is well noted as the team doesn’t seem to have greatly
missed record signing Angel Di Maria. The team have won all the games he’s
missed, including the 3 – 0 victory over Liverpool last weekend.
The central defence has always been changing, due to
injuries and change in Van Gaal’s tactics. On a positive note, the team isn’t conceding many
goals. As Van Gaal prefers a five man defence, a formation that
has slotted Michael Carrick into the
defence, and he has done exceptionally well, providing stability and calmness
in the defence.
Aston Villa is United’s next stop. Defensively, Marcos Rojo
is a doubt, after his injury in training before the Liverpool Match. Chris Smalling
is also still injured, and would miss the match, though both should be back
before New Year. Jones and Johnny Evans are both available.
Rafael is back in
training and would be in contention for a start. Luke Shaw is still injured and
would miss the match.
Daley Blind is still not back and should miss the match,
with Herrera, Fellaini and Mata pushing for starts. Angel Di Maria has been
training all week and should be match fit and may get some minutes from the
bench.
Offensively, Rooney, Van Persie, Wilson are fit, with Falcao
improving his fitness, the choice is left for Van Gaal to make, though Falcao
would be making a case for a start after a few substitute appearances.
