Three united players that must shine against Middlesbrough


Manchester United host Middlesbrough in the fourth round of the Capital One Cup. United knocked out Ipswich town get to this stage of the cup and will be definitely be looking to get past Middlesbrough and get into the next phase of the cup competition.
For united the tie should be an opportunity for some first team players to rest, while for some fringe players this may be a perfect opposition to get themselves into Van Gaal's mind, and a step in the right direction to more first team action.

Here are some players that must rise up to the occasion against Middlesbrough:

1. Memphis Depay: On his arrival at United, he arrived as a first team player. With United lacking pace, speed and tricks on the wing. But he has since failed to match up with expectations. His life off the pitch seems to be affecting his performance, and he has since be relegated to the bench. He is though expected to start against Boro, and if he performs as expected, the match may be his springboard back into The first team.


2. Jese Lingard: the youngster has been knocking on the door of first team action over the last two weeks, while his performance against City was also encouraging, he was the closest united player to goal with a half chance from Martial's telegraphic pass. Against an opposition like Middlesbrough, the youngster must grab the chance if given to make an impression in front if the Old Trafford fans.

3. Andreas Pereira: the young Brazilian can also use the match to remind Van Gaal of his presence on the sidelines. He has also had some first team action this season, and a good Capital One Cup performance would do him a world of good.
