Manchester United bounced back emphatically from the 3-0
loss to Arsenal last week, by completely outplaying and scoring three goals against
the toffees. In a game Wayne Rooney broke his away goal drought; Schneiderlin scored
his first goal for United in the premier League.
United were ruthless and took Roberto Martinez side to the
cleaners.
RedlyUnited rates the performance of the United players:
David De Gea: 8
The United keeper was again at his best, and showed why not
letting him go may be one of Van
Gaal’s best managerial decisions ever. His 54th minute save in the second
half was one of the major turning points of the game. A first class save with his leg, and another in
latter on in the game, showed that United have a match winning goal keeper.
Darmain: 7
After a weak showing in the Arsenal match, the Italian put
in a decent performance for United. He was strong, decisive and helped the defence
in making Lukaku and his cohort silent. Another good day in the office for the
right back.
Smalling: 8.5
Before the game analyst had been thinking of how United will
deal with the threat of Lukaku. And low and behold the English man rose up to
the lofty challenge of keeping the Belgian striker at bay. He showed why he is
the rock in the centre of the United defence, effectively man marking the big
Everton forward. He made a couple of
important blocks and clearance. His combination with Jones was effective.
Jones: 8
His combination with Smalling was perfect and effective in
silencing the Everton Forwards. Despite an early scare of a bleeding nose. He completed
the game and put in a solid performance. This centre back paring reminded us of the Sir
Alex Ferguson inspired and nurtured paring, that fans had thought will take
over from the Ferdinand – Vidic Combination. Not too late!!!
Rojo: 7.5
It was great to see the left footed defender back in the
United team. And this time as a starter and he capped off a wonderful performance
with a sublime cross that provided the assist for United’s second goal. He was strong, firm and also played his bit in
the United goal tight defence on the day. Though h had one or two scary
moments, they didn’t cost the team.
Schneiderlin: 7
What a way to prove to your manager that you should be the
most important defensive midfielder in your team. The Frenchman was on the
bench in United defeat to Arsenal, and his absence in the team was greatly
felt. He once again showed how effectively he can shield the back four, break
the opposition play and that he can also score goals.
Schweinsteiger: 7.5
The German power house showed he still has what it takes to
control a game agaist young opposition. He exerted maximum influence of the
midfield, and shielded the back four from the claws of the Everton midfielders.
(replaced with Carrick in the 74th
minute)
Herrera: 8.5
An all round effective performance form the Spaniard, that
will definitely make case for him as a starter in the United team. He was effective
both defensively and on the offensive. He scored a beautiful header. (United’s first
of the season) and provided the assist for Wayne Rooney’s goal. A pass he
released perfectly and on time.
Mata: 5
A quiet performance from the Spanish international, replaced
at half time by Lingard. More unlike of him. Didn’t exert his authority on the game before being
substituted.
Rooney: 7
The United captain has come under intense criticism recently,
and came into the match with his longest away goal drought. He finally got that
long awaited goal.
Martial: 7
Though the French teenager didn’t score a goal, he showed
flashes of his typical brilliant run and drive. He gave Coleman a torrid time
especially in the second half. He could have had an assist to his name if Lindgard
had been more clinical.
Substitutes:
Lindgard: 6
Came on for Mata at half time and showed promise. He could have gotten in the score sheet as
well.
Carrick: 6
He was brought on when the game was already sealed and delivered.
He Came in an continued from where Schweinsteiger had stopped.
Fellaini : 5
He replaced Herrera on the 81st minute, and had
nothing too important to do.
