Michael Carrick desperate to win the FA Cup

The Manchester United midfielder has opened up that he is desperate to win the FA Cup.

Carrick is one of the most experienced player in the current United squad, and has won all available competitions in the top flight of English football, but the FA Cup has always eluded him.

It is a cup United have not won in since 2004.

Despite their below par season so far, Van Gaal has lead his team to this season's final.

United will face Crystal Palace and the Englishman is eager to win the competition this time.

Speaking at the United's player of the year ceremony, the 34 year old said:

"It is massive. It is far too long since the club has been in it. I am desperate for a winners’ medal."

The competition is United's only hope of a silverware, and the fans can't wait for United to lift that trophy.

United face Crystal Palace at Wembley on Saturday, 21 May.
