Manchester United 1-1 Leicester City: Player Ratings

Manchester United lost more than a point, when they failed to up their game against a compact and well organized Leicester team.

The best actions of the game were in the first half, as Anthony Martial gave United the lead inside the first ten minutes.

The Foxes however equalized with a free kick few minutes later.

Here's a rating of the United players

David De Gea: 6

Typical De Gea performance. Didn't have much to do, but was effective, did well with a Mahrez shot midway the second half.

Antonio Valencia: 7

A performance that would contend for the man of the match. Did very well to provide the assist for United's first goal. Did well both defensively and offensively.

Chris Smalling: 5.5

A not too commanding performance from the Englishman. Struggled at times against Ulloa.

Daley Blind: 6

A calm and composed showing from the Dutchman. But was too soft at times.

Marcos Rojo: 5.5

Not too solid performance from the Argentine.
Whipped in a number of decent crosses.
Struggled against Ryan Mahyrez, and could have conceded a penalty against the Algerian.

Michel Carrick: 6.5

Provided the needed stability and calmness in the midfield. Provided the room for Fellaini and Rooney to attack.

Maroune Fellaini: 7

Another stellar performance from the Belgian in his recent resurgence. He's been a great beneficiary of new 4-4-3 formation.

Looked dangerous in box, and was always available in the midfield.

His tussle and elbow on Huth will sure be considered after the game, and may land him some match bam.

Wayne Rooney: 6.5

Lucky not to be sent off. Did well in the midfield. But couldn't get into those dangerous positions. Could have done better with the free kicks.

Jesse Lingard: 5.5

Another game with a lot of hard worked but no cutting edge. He should have done better and acted stronger when he was on goal in the first half. Combined well with Valencia on the right flank.

Anthony Martial: 7.5

Scored United's only goal. Looked dangerous all through. Denied time and space by the compact Leicester defence.

Marcus Rashford: 6

Engaged in a lot of running around, but was denied space in between the two big Leicester centre defenders.

Substitutes

Ander Herrera: 6

Came in for Maroune Fellaini and provided another dimension to the United side. Initiated a move late on that could have given United the winning goal. Did well in linking up play.

Juan Mata: 5

Presented with a good header, but didn't stand a good chance against Leicester's Morgan in the air. Couldn't do much.

Memphis Depay: 5

His major contribution was the controversial free kick he won for United. The debate will linger on, if Drinkwater fouled him in the box or not.
