Barcelona legend Hristo Stoichkov has advised Pedro not to join
United. In what looked like a direct attack at Van Gaal, stoichkov described United
Coach Van Gaal as a destroyer and mediocre. United are reportedly keen on signing the
Barcelona forward as a replacement for departed Di Maria. Van Gaal won two la
liga titles, the Copa Del Rey and the UEFA super cup during his reign as Barcelona
coach between 1997 and 2000.
‘‘If he goes there he
would no longer be a footballer. He (Van Gaal) is destroying all the players
because he is so mediocre, players have left because of him. He destroys clubs,
he did it with Barcelona, and after they take years to build.’’
The Bulgarian was also not impressed with United’s
performance in their opening day victory over
Tottenham ‘‘He has spent £200m
and the other day I saw his first game of the season. Disastrous. He won 1-0
because of an own goal.’’
Manchester United are expecting David De Gea to stay at
United for this season. The Spaniard was not in goal for United in the first
game of the season, after manage Van Gaal says he’s not in the right frame of
mind for the game. Report emerge after the game that De Gea declared himself
ready for the game. But Van Gaal decided to give new signing Sergio Romeo his
debut. The Argentine in turn put in a near perfect performance with some
spectacular saves to contribute his quota to the United victory. ‘‘Sergio saved
us twice’’ Van Gaal said after the victory over Spurs.
But Van Gaal has said that De Gea could still feature for United.
According to Van Gaal ‘‘of course he could, if he is still here on 1 September
we will look again. But Van Gaal says De
Gea cannot play for United until the transfer window closes and the goalkeeper
gains full concentration.
Adidas, United new jersey maker have released the new
Manchester United Away Jersey. United
will use the Jersey for their next Premier League game, away to Aston Villa
this Friday.
The away kit will be available from August 14. Later this
month United will unveil their third jersey for the season.
